Integrated Movement Therapy (IMT)

I firmly believe that our bodies are meant to move, and that need for physicality can easily get lost in our computer-based, desk-sitting, often pain-ridden culture. I specialize in providing trauma sensitive sessions with adults with neurological conditions. I love supporting folks who are curious about starting a physical movement practice and seeking a friendly, accessible way to begin.

A typical IMT session is 75 minutes long and can include talking, movement, massage, meditation, and relaxation (similar to the end of a yoga class). We discuss your issues, goals, and desires at length and design your sessions around your unique needs. IMT is for you if you want support in figuring out what type of movement practice is best for you!

I bring many tools to our sessions, include ideas from:

  • Yoga

  • Personal Training

  • Massage Therapy

  • Aromatherapy

  • Assisted Stretching

  • Reflexology

  • Vipassana Meditation

  • Non-Violent Communication

My first class with Hanakyle was one long rejoice. I had just performed a physically demanding show, and was in need of some serious bodywork and brain space. Fortunately, her class is a miracle balm. Hanakyle’s calm, grounding and inclusive teaching style empowers and relaxes: I felt courageous yet open thanks to her thoughtful, ad hoc instruction. I’ve enjoyed years of movement training in a variety of methods; as such, I’m particular about who I’d want to continue my practice with. From the first moment of Hanakyle’s class, I knew I was going to learn, heal and (most thrillingly) step safely outside of my comfort zone! Her voice, adjustments and flow reflect how deeply she listens; as she resolved a room full of strangers’ individual and communal spaces/confines, HK demonstrated such generosity and intelligence. A natural diviner of all things human, Hanakyle makes me excited to build a better life in motion.

HanaKyle has been coming to my home weekly for over one year and it is no exaggeration to say that she has changed my life. The physical disabilities that I have would prevent me from participating regularly in a yoga program without HanaKyle’s willingness to come to me. She carefully tailors her sessions to my physical condition and emotional needs, both of which vary from week to week. With her encouragement, I have made meditation a part of my daily life, after many unsuccessful attempts. The combination of physical movement and breathing exercises that we do have both strengthened and relaxed me. I firmly believe that bringing HanaKyle into your life is one of the wisest and most valuable gifts one could give yourself.
