Where yoga and prison justice come together:

April’s Share Big Heart session features the exciting and radical work of Milk Not Jails, a volunteer-run, grassroots campaign working to end mass incarceration in New York State. Milk Not Jails is building an urban rural alliance to end upstate, rural New York’s dependency on the prison economy and revitalize and invest instead in agriculture. This innovative model connects upstate and downstate residents in a healthy economic relationship.

Milk Not Jails, Parole Justice NY and the Challenging Incarceration Network are organizing Unite for Parole & Prison Justice: A Day of Advocacy and Action on May 10th in Albany, NY. On May 10th, people with loved ones in prison, formerly incarcerated people and activists from across the entire state of New York will join together to meet with their elected officials and rally for an end to mass incarceration. The day's success hinges onturning out a diverse group of people from the far reaches of New York State, including New York City, and Milk Not Jails is raising money for the transportation fund so that everyone who wants to participate on May 10th can get to Albany. www.milknotjails.wordpress.com
